Vendakka Vattichathu | Hot Ladies Finger Curry
This okra, also known as Hot Ladies Finger Curry, is a flavorful and spicy dish from Kerala cuisine.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 5 nos Ladies finger
- 2 nos Tomato
- 2 nos Green chilly
- 1 tbsp Red chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt, as needed
- 1 cup Water
- Curry leaves, a few
- 1 tsp Mustard seed
Preparation
Step 1
Prep all your vegetables — wash, peel, and chop them before you start cooking.
Step 2
Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and let the mustard seeds crackle.
Step 3
Add ladies finger, green chilly, tomato and salt to taste. cook them till the sliminess of ladies finger reduces.
Step 4
Stir in red chilly powder and turmeric powder. cook for a few seconds and add water and curry leaves. Cook till it is done.
Step 5
Delicious Vendakka Vattichathu is ready.
Tip
Let the curry rest for at least 15 minutes after cooking — the flavours deepen as it sits. Reheated curry almost always tastes better than fresh.
