Tomato Chutney For Idly/Dosa | Thakkali Chutney
Tomato chutney, also known as Thakkali Chutney in Tamil, is a quintessential South Indian condiment that pairs perfectly with idly and dosa.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 2 nos Tomato(Medium - Less sour — chopped
- 4 nos Dry Red Chillies
- 1 nos Onion(Medium — chopped
- 1 handful Coriander leaves — chopped
- 1 sprig Curry leaves
Preparation
Step 1
Gather all the required ingredients in a plate.
Step 2
First chop the vegetables.
Step 3
Heat 2 tsp coconut oil in a pan.
Step 4
Add 4 dry red chillies and chopped onion. cook in medium flame.
Step 5
When the onion start turning golden brown, add chopped tomato and curry leaves. cook, stirring often, for a few minutes.
Step 6
When the tomato turns mushy, add required salt and coriander leaves. give it a good stir.
Step 7
When tomato is smashed well, turn off the heat.
Step 8
Transfer the contents to a mixie and grind well without adding water.
Step 9
Tomato Chutney is ready.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
