Traditional Kerala Cabbage Thoran
This thoran we can see in kerala sadyas ,0nam and marriage sadyas.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 1 Cabbage — chopped
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- 2 Onion
- 1 tsp Mustard
- 3 Green chilly
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 5 Curry leaves
- 1 tsp Coconut oil
- 1 tsp Urad dal
- 3 Dry red chilly
- 1 tsp Salt
Preparation
Step 1
Wash and chop cabbage into pieces.
Step 2
Set a kadai over medium heat and pour in the oil and add mustard seeds.When mustard's allow to crackle add urad dal,red chilly and curry leaves.
Step 3
Next, add chopped cabbages stir for 2 minutes.
Step 4
Grind coconut,cumin seeds,onion and green chilly in a mixer.
Step 5
Add this ground coconut mix to cabbage.Add salt stir for 2 minutes.
Step 6
Close the lid of kadai and Let it cook for 2 minutes in a low flame.
Step 7
Now cabbage thoran is ready to serve with hot rice.
Tip
Shred the vegetable as fine as you can — the thinner the cuts, the better the thoran. A sharp knife makes all the difference.
