Semiya Uppuma
Roasted semiya is added to boiling water and cooked for making uppuma.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 2 cup Vermicelli Semiya
- 1 nos Onion — chopped
- Carrot Little — chopped
- 3 nos Green chillies — chopped
- 1 piece Ginger — chopped
- 2 Stems Curry leaves
- Salt, to taste
- Coconut/Refined oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing semiya uppuma, first roast semiya in ghee or coconut oil until golden in color. Set aside to cool.
Step 2
In a fry pan(cheenachatti), heat oil and fry chopped onion, carrot pieces, green chillies, ginger and curry leaves.
Step 3
When the colour of above ingredients turn golden, add required water and salt and allow to boil for a few minutes.
Step 4
After this mix boil well, add the fried semiya into this and Stir everything together thoroughly. If required, after cooking the uppuma, scraped coconut can be added.
Step 5
Semiya uppuma is very easy to prepare and is also a very Breakfast dish. Can be served with banana or chutney or can eat without any side dish.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
