Raw Banana Fry
Raw banana/vazhakka pieces cooked with little water, salt, turmeric and stir fried.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 nos Raw banana — cut into small squares, vazhakka
- 2 tsp Chilly powder
- 1/2 tbsp Garlic paste
- Turmeric powder A pinch
- Curry leaves, a few
- Mustard seeds, a few
- Oil, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing raw banana fry, first cook the washed banana pieces with some water, turmeric powder and required salt.
Step 2
Cover with a lid and cook in low heat until the vazhakka pieces are done and water has evaporated fully.
Step 3
Heat the oil in a frying pan and crackle mustard seeds. Add garlic paste, chilly powder and curry leaves. Stir in cooked vazhakka pieces.
Step 4
Fry the raw banana/vazhakka pieces to a golden brown color.
Step 5
Raw banana fry, a favorite kerala dish, is ready. Serve hot.
Tip
The final handful of curry leaves should go in right at the end, off the heat — they should crackle and crisp in the residual heat.
