Ragi Idiyappam | Ragi String Hoppers
This mixed, gluten-free Ragi String Hoppers packed with fiber and calcium.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 2 cup Ragi Flour
- 2 cup Hot Water
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Get ragi flour, required salt and oil in a wide bowl.
Step 2
Heat water to a boil. Pour hot water over the ragi flour and Stir everything together thoroughly. Cover the bowl with a lid and let it sit for about 15 minutes.
Step 3
After 15 minutes, form into a soft dough.
Step 4
Heat a idli steamer and add little grated coconut in it.
Step 5
Now take your string hopper maker and fill it with the dough. Spin the string maker so that you will get the dough as threads falling over it. Steam for 8 to 10 minutes.
Step 6
Remove and serve Ragi Idiyappam with your favorite curry.
Tip
The fermented batter is the heart of good appam. Give it at least 8 hours to rise — overnight is best. The slight sourness is what makes appam special.
