Kudampuliyitta Chemmeen
A specialty sea food delicacy, very popular in Kerala, a land of vast coastal areas. The unique combination of spices and herbs involved in the dish would right away speak volumes of Kerala Cuisine that has won hearts.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 1/2 kg Prawns
- 1 nos Onion sliced, big
- 1 large Ginger — finely chopped
- 5 nos Garlic cloves — finely chopped
- 1/4 cup Coconut flakes
- 11/2 tbsp Chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 3 nos Gambooges Kudampuli
- Curry leaves, to taste
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- Water, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- Oil
Preparation
Step 1
Clean and wash the prawns.
Step 2
Add the onion(1/4 cup), ginger, garlic and coconut flakes.
Step 3
Add all the powders, curry leaves and cleaned kudampuli. Stir in washed and drained prawns and required salt.
Step 4
Add little water and cook for 10 to 15 minutes. Keep cooked prawns aside.
Step 5
Now Heat the oil in a kadai.
Step 6
Let the mustard seeds crackle.
Step 7
Add rest of the onion and cook well.
Step 8
When onion goes golden brown, add the cooked prawns into it and cook well.
Step 9
Roast in low flame until the prawns are slightly browned. Remove the kadai from flame.the delicious dish.
Tip
Never stir a fish curry with a spoon. Shake the pot gently to coat the pieces — stirring breaks them apart.
