Kerala Papaya Halwa Easy
Kerala Papaya Halwa is a dessert which has a very mild, slightly tangy and light taste. It is best to serve as a dinner delight. This halwa can be prepared with raw, semi riped or fully riped papaya, yet the taste and flavor differs.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 1 nos Papaya
- 5 tbsp Sugar depends on sweetness of Papaya
- 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder (Elakka)
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- 1/4 tsp Maida
- 4 nos Cashewnuts
Preparation
Step 1
Cut and clean the papaya into small pieces and make a fine pulp of it by using a blender(mixer).
Step 2
Place a pan on the stove and heat it for some time.
Step 3
Mix the papaya pulp and sugar in the hot pan.
Step 4
Keep stirring the mixture continuously.
Step 5
In the meantime, add water to maida to make a liquid paste.
Step 6
After stirring the mixture in the pan for about 5 minutes, add the maida paste to it.
Step 7
This help in thickening the mixture to desired level.
Step 8
Add ghee and cardamom powder to the mixture once it starts getting thick.
Step 9
Get out the mixture from the pan and spread it onto a flat vessel making a 2 inch thickness of the mixture.
Step 10
Cool and cut the halwa into pieces as desired.
Tip
Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
