Easy Potato Kurma Recipe
A home-style Kerala dish made with care and the kind of spice knowledge that comes from watching someone else cook it a hundred times. Each step matters, and the result is worth the effort.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 3 nos Potato Large
- 1 nos Onion Small
- 1 nos Tomato Small
- 2 nos Green chilly
- 3 cup Coconut milk Coconut milk from half piece grated Coconut
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
- 1/4 tsp Garam masala
- 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 2 tbsp Coriander leaves — chopped
Preparation
Step 1
Cut the veggies and keep it ready.
Step 2
Heat the oil in a pressure cooker and let the mustard seeds crackle. Then add all the veggies.
Step 3
Add turmeric powder, pepper powder, garam masala, coriander powder and salt to taste.
Step 4
Fold everything together gently and Let it cook for 2 minutes.
Step 5
Pour coconut milk and pressure let it go for 3-4 whistles.
Step 6
Now the Kurma is ready. Mash the potatoes and Fold everything together gently.
Step 7
Delicious Potato Kurma is ready. Serve it along with pathiri, dosa, chappathi etc.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
