Easy Cherupayar Payasam
A sweet dessert to relish your sweet moments. and Easy Cherupayar Payasam is usually served after a heavy Sadhya meal.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 150 g To Split green gram dhal Cherupayar parippu
- 8 To Cashew nuts
- 8 To Rasins Unakka Munthiri
- 5 To Jaggery 200gm, Sharkara
- Coconut milk half of one
- 3 nos Cardamom powder (Elakka)
- Salt, to taste
- Water, as needed
- Ghee, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing easy cherupayar payasam, fry split green gram dhal in a pan for a few minutes.
Step 2
Add water and salt and cook the split green gram dhal in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles.
Step 3
Put jaggery in 3/4 glass of hot water and melt it.
Step 4
Fry rasins and cashewnuts in some ghee and set aside.
Step 5
Add jaggery syrup, cashewnut, rasins, coconut milk and cardamom powder to the cooked split green gram dhal and boil it again. Add water if necessary.
Step 6
Easy cherupayar payasam is ready.
Tip
Never rush the milk reduction by increasing the heat. Scorched milk adds a bitter undertone that ruins the entire payasam.
