Coconut Burfi Sweet Dish
A traditional Kerala sweet that balances richness with restraint. Made with jaggery, coconut, and a careful hand, the sweetness is warm rather than overwhelming — the kind of flavour that lingers.
Ingredientsfor 1 servings
- 1 cup Coconut — finely grated
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 4 nos Cardamom (Elakka)
- 1 tsp Ghee
- 2 tbsp Water
Preparation
Step 1
Place sugar and water in a pan on medium heat.
Step 2
Melt sugar in the water.
Step 3
When it starts turning brown, add coconut.
Step 4
Keep stirring, till the coconut leaves the sides of the tawa.
Step 5
Add powdered cardamom(powder in mixie with some sugar).
Step 6
Grease a plate with ghee.
Step 7
Pour the coconut mixture into the plate.
Step 8
Cut it into small pieces.
Step 9
Note:- You may also like the burfi, if you burn it a bit. Try with a small portion.
Tip
Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
