Besan Chilla | Besan Cheela
This mixed, also known as Besan Cheela, is a popular North Indian savory pancake made from gram flour (besan).
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 cup Gram flour Besan
- 1 Onion — finely chopped
- 2 tsp Coriander leaves — chopped
- 4 nos Green chillies — chopped
- 2 tsp Oil
- 1/2 cup Water
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
In a vessel combine gram flour and green chilies. Add 1/2 cup water and whisk to make a smooth batter.
Step 2
Add chopped onions, coriander leaves, salt and whisk continuously to avoid any lumps.
Step 3
Heat the pan, add 1 spoonful batter in the center of the pan and spread it around by gently swirling the pan. Cook until it begins to set.
Step 4
Carefully flip the chilla and cook the other side.
Step 5
Now Besan Chilla is ready to serve.
Tip
Let the dish rest for a few minutes after cooking. Flavours settle and meld during this time, and the texture often improves.
