Yummy Mushroom Masala
A traditional preparation from Kerala that balances flavour, texture, and aroma in the way that only home cooking can. No two households make it exactly the same, and that is the point.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 cup Mushrooms — sliced
- 1 nos Onion — chopped
- 1 piece Ginger — chopped
- 5 Cloves Garlic — chopped
- 1 tsp Chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp Pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala
- 1 nos Tomato — ground
- 1 tsp Corn flour — mixed in a little milk
- 3 Springs Coriander leaves — chopped
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing mushroom masala, wash the sliced mushrooms in luke warm salt water.
Step 2
Cook it in a steamer for 5 minutes.
Step 3
Fry onion, ginger and garlic in oil. Then add chilly powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, pepper powder and coriander powder. Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 4
Drop in tomato, mushrooms, salt and corn flour. Mix it well. Allow it to Let it cook for 5 minutes with a closed lid. take it off the heat.
Step 5
Garnish with coriander leaves.
Step 6
Mushroom masala is ready. Serve hot.
Tip
When the recipe says "medium heat," it means medium. Kerala cooking is not about high-flame drama — most of the work happens at a patient, steady temperature.
