Wheat Puttu
Steamed layers of rice flour and coconut inside a cylindrical mould — puttu is Kerala morning fuel. It crumbles apart on the plate and soaks up kadala curry, banana, or just a spoonful of sugar and ghee.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 500 g Wheat flour
- Coconut half a coconut — grated
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Fry the wheat flour, till it`s colour is slightly changes.
Step 2
Just like frying rava.
Step 3
Set aside in a wide mouthed bowl.
Step 4
Add some salt to a cup of warm water and sprinkle it evenly over the flour and mix it like the rice puttu.
Step 5
Spread a clean, slightly moistened cloth over an idly thattu and spread the flour evenly.
Step 6
Spread the grated coconut over it.
Step 7
Cover with the lid and cook till steam comes out. Serve hot.
Tip
