Village Style Mutton Curry | Naadan Aattirachi Curry
an easy mutton curry prepared in malabar side of kerala. No special ingredients is needed for this recipe. It goes well with ghee rice, porotta, chappati etc.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 1 kg Mutton
- 2 nos Large Onion
- 3 nos Tomato
- 1 cup Shallots — chopped
- Ginger Small piece — chopped
- 1 Pod, Whole Garlic — chopped
- 2 nos Potato
- 21/2 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Fenugreek seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 2 tbsp Pepper corns
- 2 nos Cardamom
- Cinnamon stick A small piece
- Coriander leaves, a few
- Curry leaves, a few
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 cup Water
Preparation
Step 1
Clean and wash the mutton.
Step 2
Cut the veggies and set aside.
Step 3
Grind pepper corns, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cardamom and clove in a mixer grinder to form a fine powder.
Step 4
Heat the oil in a vessel or cooker, allow to crackle fenugreek seeds in it and add ginger garlic paste and cook for 1 minute.
Step 5
Add shallots and onion, cook until it is lightly browned.
Step 6
Add coriander powder and Continue cooking for 3 to 4 minutes.
Step 7
Add tomato, potato and garam masala.
Step 8
Add mutton, turmeric powder, salt, coriander leaves, curry leaves, water as needed and Let it cook for 15 minutes in pressure cooker until done.
Step 9
Village Style Mutton Curry is ready to serve.
Tip
Low and slow is the only way with mutton. Rushing the cooking gives you tough, chewy meat instead of fork-tender pieces.
