Vermicelli Uppumavu
It is a tasty, breakfast dish in south india. The kids will like the noodle like texture of this upma.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- -1 cup Vermicelli — roasted
- 1 tsp Mustard
- 1 tsp Urad dal
- 6 Curry leaf
- 1 cup Water
- 1 tsp Salt
- 4 Green chilli
Preparation
Step 1
Pour oil into a pan and heat it.Add mustard when mustard allow to crackles add urad dal fry them till they get golden brown colour.
Step 2
Add onions,curry leaves i and green chilly Let it cook for 2 minutes.
Step 3
Add 1 cup of water and salt to this and let the mixture come to boil.
Step 4
Low the flame and add roasted vermicelli stir and cook vermicelli until softened and all the water is absorbed.
Step 5
Keep on stiring in between.When vermicelli is fully cooked and water is fully absorbed switch off the fire.
Step 6
Now vermicelli is ready to serve.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
