Vendakka Mezhukkupuratti
Vendakka mezhukkupuratti is a Kerala style okra curry with an amazing flavors. A simple and perfect side dish for rice and chapathi. It is better to use tender okra/ladies finger for a tasty mezhukkupuratti.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1/2 kg Ladies finger
- 1 nos Onion — chopped
- 4 nos Green chillies — chopped
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- Curry leaves, a few
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- Coconut oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing ladies finger/vendakka fry, first chop vegetable into small round shapes.
Step 2
Heat oil, let the mustard seeds crackle and curry leaves. Add onion and green chillies. Fry for few seconds.
Step 3
Add ladies finger, turmeric and salt.
Step 4
Fry well. Do not add water into it.
Step 5
Cover with lid and cook.
Step 6
Stir in between.
Step 7
Ladies finger/vendakka fry is ready.
Tip
The pan should be completely dry when you finish — no moisture should remain. That dryness is what gives thoran its characteristic texture.
