Unniappam - Soft And Tasty
Naadan unniappams made with rice flour and semolina/vermicelli.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 500 g Rice flour
- 250 g Semolina
- 500 g Maida
- 750 g Jaggery
- Coconut half pc
- 3 nos Banana
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 5 nos Cardamom
- Salt, to taste
- Water, to taste
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Melt jaggery in a little water.
Step 2
Add rice flour, maida, semolina to the melted jaggery and mix it well.
Step 3
Grind banana and add it into the mixture and make a thick batter.
Step 4
Heat the oil in a vessel and fry the coconut till brown color.
Step 5
Add fried coconut, cumin seeds and cardamom into the batter.
Step 6
Heat the oil in appachatti.
Step 7
Spoon in the batter and fry both sides till it turns dark brown color.
Tip
The swirling motion takes practice. Your first two appams will likely be imperfect — consider them warm-up rounds.
