Unni Madhuram
Unni madhuram is a sweet and simple snack made with bread and ripe plantains. Only few ingredients are used to prepare this fried balls. It vanishes in no time if you have banana lovers.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 3 Ripe plantains
- 6 Bread slices
- 3 tbsp Sugar
- 6 Cashew nuts — roasted
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
- Oil — for frying
Preparation
Step 1
Make bread crumbs by crushing bread slices in a mixer.
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, and add chopped banana,half of bread crumbs,roasted cashew nuts,sugar and cardamom powder.Stir everything together thoroughly with hand and make a dough.
Step 3
Then make small balls out of the dough.
Step 4
Roll each balls in remaining bread crumbs.
Step 5
Heat coconut oil and fry in hot oil each balls on medium flamme until golden brown.
Step 6
Unni madhuram is ready.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
