Unakka Chemmeen Fry Easy
Slow-roasted in coconut oil with a generous hand of spices, this prawn fry develops layers of flavour as it dries out on the pan. The patience pays off — every piece is coated and concentrated.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 250 g Dried Prawn
- 1/2 tsp Red chilly powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/4 tsp Pepper powder
- 1 tsp Lemon Juice
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tsp Oil
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing unakka chemmeen fry, wash dried prawns and drain it.
Step 2
Make a paste of red chilly powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, lemon juice and salt.
Step 3
Apply this paste on the prawns.
Step 4
Warm the oil in a kadai fry both sides of the prawns.
Step 5
Unakka chemmeen fry is ready. Serve it with rice as a side dish.
Tip
The final handful of curry leaves should go in right at the end, off the heat — they should crackle and crisp in the residual heat.
