Traditional Kerala Beans Thoran
A classic Kerala thoran where beans meets freshly grated coconut in a quick, dry stir-fry. Mustard seeds crackle in coconut oil, curry leaves crisp up, and the whole thing comes together in minutes.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 cup Beans
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- 1 tsp Mustard
- 1 tsp Urad dal
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 2 Onions — chopped
Preparation
Step 1
Warm the oil in a kadai add mustard when mustard crackles add,urad dal and red chilli.
Step 2
Next, add chopped beans and stirl for 2 minutes.
Step 3
Grind coconut,cumin seeds,onion and green chilli.
Step 4
Add this ground mix to the beans and stir for some more time.
Step 5
When it cooked well we can serve with hot rice.
Tip
Shred the vegetable as fine as you can — the thinner the cuts, the better the thoran. A sharp knife makes all the difference.
