Tomato Uttapam
one of the classic dishes in South Indian breakfast dishes. Though similar to dosa, Tomato Uttapam is made slightly thicker and fluffier and a variety of topping are used which can range from tomatoes to onion and even cheese and paneer.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 4 cup Idly /dosa batter
- Turmeric powder A pinch
- 1 nos Tomato — finely chopped
- 1 nos Green chillies — chopped
- 1 nos Onion — chopped
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the delicious dish, first take the fermented dosa batter in a bowl.
Step 2
Mix together all the ingredients: turmeric powder, tomato, green chillies and onion in a separate bowl and set aside.
Step 3
In a tawa, spread the dosa batter with ladle like uttapam. Sprinkle the tomato mixture on top of dosa.
Step 4
Pour oil on sides and Let it cook for 2 minutes by covering with a lid. Flip and fry the other side too before removing dosa from flame.
Step 5
Uttapam is ready. Goes great with a side dish of sambar and chutney for your breakfast.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
