Restaurant Style Fish Fry
Known for its crispy texture and flavorful marination, Restaurant Style Fish Fry is a crowd-favorite that pairs well with a variety of sides, from rice to chapatis, or even a simple salad.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 4-5 piece Fish Any fleshy fish
- 2 tbsp Shallots
- 1 tbsp Ginger
- 2 tbsp Garlic
- 10-12 Curry leaves
- 1 tsp Fennel seeds
- 1 tbsp Chilly powder
- ½ tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- 3 tsp Oil — for marination
- 4-5 tbsp Oil — for frying
Preparation
Step 1
Gather and prep all your ingredients before you begin.
Step 2
Get a blender and add ginger, garlic, curry leaves, shallots and fennel seeds.
Step 3
Grind it.
Step 4
In a spacious mixing bowl, and add the mixture along with chilly powder, turmeric powder, salt and oil.
Step 5
Add lemon juice.
Step 6
Add 2 tbsp water and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 7
Clean the fish.
Step 8
Marinate the fish in half of the prepared masala. Rest it for 15 minutes.
Step 9
Pour oil into a pan and heat it and add fish pieces and curry leaves. Fry both sides in low to medium flame for few minutes.
Step 10
When both sides are well cooked, move into a corner and add the remaining masala.
Step 11
Cook it, stirring for 2 minutes.
Step 12
Slowly combine everything together and cook for another 2 minutes in low flame.
Step 13
Serve.
Tip
A heavy-bottomed pan or cast iron skillet gives you the best results for a proper Kerala fry. Thin pans burn the spices before the meat dries.
