Steamed Carrot Rava Kozhukkatta | Steamed Rava Dumplings
A healthy South Indian snack made with rava and fresh carrots.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1.5 cup Water
- 1 cup Rava
- 1 tsp Ghee
- ½ cup Carrot — grated
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tsp Ghee
- ¾ cup Carrot — grated
- ¾ cup Coconut — grated
- ¾ cup Jaggery
- 2 tbsp Water
- 1 tsp Sugar
- ¼ tsp Cardamom powder
Preparation
Step 1
Boil water in a pan by adding salt and ghee. Then add rava. Stir everything together thoroughly and Put the lid on and cook in medium flame for about 5 minutes Give it a stir now and then to avoid burning.
Step 2
Once all the water is absorbed and almost cooked, add grated carrot. Once warm to handle, combine it well. Set aside.
Step 3
For preparing the filling, heat ghee in a pan and roast grated carrot in it for 5 minutes.
Step 4
Stir in grated coconut and cook it, stirring for 5 more minutes.
Step 5
Now pour the melted jaggery and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the moisture absorbs.
Step 6
Rub your hands with coconut oil and roll the dough pieces into a round ball. Use your thumb to press into the center of the ball. Gently rotate and press the dough outward until you have formed a little well. Add about a tbsp of the jaggery carrot coconut filling. With your hands close the ball completely with dough forming a round ball.
Step 7
Steam let it go for 15 minutes.
Step 8
Serve warm.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
