Tomato Chicken
If you looking for a different dish, then here is spicy, tangy and soya flavored Tomato Chicken that pairs well with rice and almost anything. Tomatoes are nutritious and Tomato Chicken will turn out to be a favorite.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 kg Chicken sliced into small pieces
- 2 nos Onion — thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp Red chilly powder
- 2 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- 2 tbsp Tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Garlic paste
- 1 tbsp Soya sauce
- 3 tbsp *Oil
- Salt, to taste
- Coriander leaves — for garnishing
- *Do not use coconut oil
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Tomato Chicken, first chop chicken into small bite sized pieces. Wash well and drain.
Step 2
Set a kadai over medium heat and pour in the oil or a pan. Stir in thinly sliced onion and cook well.
Step 3
When onions are slightly browned, add chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder. Lower flame and add garlic paste. cook for a minute.
Step 4
Add tomato paste and the chicken pieces.
Step 5
Close the kadai with a lid and allow the chicken pieces to get cooked in very low flame. Do not add water. Allow chicken to get cooked in its own juice.
Step 6
When it is almost cooked, add soya sauce. Check for salt. Remember that soya sauce contains salt. Tangy, Tomato Chicken is ready.
Step 7
Garnish Tomato Chicken with coriander leaves.
Step 8
Serve Tomato Chicken with chappathis or rice.
Tip
Bone-in chicken gives a richer, more flavourful gravy than boneless. The marrow flavours the curry as it cooks.
