Tasty Parippu Curry With Less Ingredients
A traditional Kerala curry where dal simmers gently in a spiced coconut gravy until every piece soaks up the flavours. The curry leaves and raw coconut oil finish add that characteristic Kerala fragrance.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- Dal 1 cup
- Shallot 10 to 15
- Dried red chilly powder 3 tsp
- Curry leaves 1 sprig
- Tomato 1
- Water, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Grind the shallot using a motor and pestle.
Step 2
Add dried red chilly powder to shallots.
Step 3
Grind it well.
Step 4
Heat a pan.
Step 5
Add oil when its hot.
Step 6
Add the grinded mixture to it.
Step 7
Cook it, stirring well.
Step 8
Add tomato and curry leaves.
Step 9
Add dal,salt and water to it.
Step 10
Close the pan and wait until it gets cooked.
Step 11
Our dish is ready to serve.
Tip
For a thicker gravy, cook uncovered on medium heat for the last few minutes. For a thinner consistency, add a splash of warm water.
