Swiss Roll
A traditional preparation from Kerala that balances flavour, texture, and aroma in the way that only home cooking can. No two households make it exactly the same, and that is the point.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 100 g Self raising flour or Maida
- 100 g Sugar
- 2 nos Eggs
- Vanilla essence A few drops
- 1/2 tsp Baking powder — optional
- Sugar for spreading
- Strawberry or raspberry jam to spread
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180 degree C.
Step 2
Beat the eggs, sugar and essence, until fluffy.
Step 3
Slowly fold the flour into the mixture and mix it thoroughly without any lumps.
Step 4
Get a swiss roll tray or any flat tray and cover the tray with aluminium foil.
Step 5
Pour the mixture over the tray and spread it evenly.
Step 6
Bake it in the oven for 10 - 15 minutes or until knife comes out clear.
Step 7
Get a butter paper and apply powdered sugar and spread it evenly.
Step 8
Invert the cake over the butter paper.
Step 9
Allow the cake to cool.
Step 10
Spread the jam over the cake and roll it gently.
Step 11
Cut it into pieces.
