Sweet Upma
A traditional Kerala sweet that balances richness with restraint. Made with jaggery, coconut, and a careful hand, the sweetness is warm rather than overwhelming — the kind of flavour that lingers.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 2 cup Rava
- 1 cup Cocunut — grated
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- Raisins, a few
- 1 tsp Oil
Preparation
Step 1
Roast Rava.
Step 2
Set a pan on the stove pour enough water for boiling rava and let the water boil.
Step 3
Add sugar to the water, let it boil, then add rava allow it to cook.
Step 4
Add grated cocunut and give it a good stir.
Step 5
Heat the oil in another pan add raisins let it pop, add it to the rava.
Step 6
Sweet upma is ready.
Tip
Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
