Sweet Rice With Green Gram
Rice is cooked with other ingredients - Sweet Rice with Green Gram.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 200 g Rice
- 50 g Green gram roasted till red, Cherupayar parippu
- 1/2 litre Milk
- 1/2 cup Jaggery grated, Sharkara
- 1 tsp Cardamoms — powdered (Elakka)
- 1 tbsp Cashew nuts fried
- 1 tbsp Raisins fried, Unakka munthiri
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg grated, Jatikka
- 100 g Ghee
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing sweet rice with green gram, heat the ghee in a pan, add rice, green gram and milk. Cook until softened.
Step 2
Add jaggery, nutmeg and cardamom. Cook on a low flame till the jaggery dissolves and is absorbed into the rice.
Step 3
Sweet rice with green gram is ready. Serve hot garnished with nuts and raisins.
Tip
Soak the rice for at least 20 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking and prevents the grains from breaking.
