Sweet Fried Bread
Old-fashioned Kerala sweetmaking — no shortcuts, no substitutes. Jaggery, ghee, and coconut come together through slow cooking and patience into something far greater than the sum of their parts.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 6 slice Bread
- 2 nos Egg
- 1 / Cardamom powder
- 5 tbsp Maida / All purpose flour
- 6 tbsp Sugar
- Oil for frying
Preparation
Step 1
Slice the bread into small triangles.
Step 2
Beat the eggs well with sugar and cardamom powder. Then slowly add maida / all purpose flour and enough water, Stir everything together thoroughly to make a batter.
Step 3
Heat the oil in a fry pan,.Dip the bread slices into the batter and fry it until it turns (both sides) brown colour.
Step 4
The sweet bread fry with hot tea.
Tip
When working with jaggery, always melt and strain it first. Even the best quality jaggery has some grit that needs to be removed.
