Lololikka Achar Recipe | Loobikka Achar
Lololikka Achar is a pickle prepared with the red cranberry. Pickles are an important delicacy present in almost all parts of the world. Lololikkas or loobikkas are abundant during summer season and you can prepare pickles and relish with noon day meals.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 250 g Loobikka
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp Fenugreek seeds
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida powder
- 2 tsp Red chilli powder
- Salt, to taste
- 3-4 Curry leaves
- 1-2 tsp Vinegar
- 4 nos Green chillies
- 2 tsp Coconut oil
Preparation
Step 1
Wash the Loobikka (Scram Berries) in normal water and keep them aside.
Step 2
Clean, wash and cut the Green Chillies into small pieces.
Step 3
Heat the oil in a Cheenachatti, burst Mustard seeds in this hot oil and then add the Fenugreek seeds, Curry leaves, Green Chilli pieces also and stir it well. When colour of the mix turn into golden/brown, add Turmeric Powder, Red Chilli Powder and Salt and stir the mix further.
Step 4
Add one cup of water into this mix and add the cleaned Loobika, Vinegar and Asafoetida powder also and stir it well. Cook the mix in low flame till the water redues in the Achhaar.
Step 5
Loobikka (Scram Berry) Achhaar is ready. This Achhaar can be served with Poori/Parotha/Cooked Rice etc. If this Achhaar is stored in an air tight container in fridge, it can be used for more days.
Tip
The jar must be completely dry and the spoon must be clean every time you take from it. Any moisture introduces bacteria and spoils the pickle.
