Sweet And Crispy Rotis With Chickpea
Aata dough is stuffed with sweet chickpea mixture and rolled out into rotis.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 50 g Bengal Gram/Chickpea Kadala
- 125 g Wheat powder/Aata
- 3 tsp Semolina
- 2 tbsp Fresh coconut — grated
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- 25 g Jaggery powder Sharkara
- 11/2 tsp Cardamom powder (Elakka)
- Salt, to taste
- Water, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing sweet and crispy rotis with chickpea, prepare a dough using aata, 1 tsp ghee, semolina, water and required salt. Set aside for an hour.
Step 2
Melt remaining ghee in a pan and roast the chickpea and powder it. Set aside.
Step 3
Place a pan on the stove and dissolve the jaggery powder in 1 tbsp of water. Bring to boil.
Step 4
Stir in chickpea powder, fresh coconut and cardamom powder. Turn off flame when the mixture has dried completely and water has evaporated. Set aside.
Step 5
Pluck small balls out of the aata dough and flatten lightly. Put a tbsp of sweet chickpea mixture and roll as ball again.
Step 6
Roll out into rotis sprinkling little aata flour.
Step 7
Heat a tawa and fry sweet and crispy rotis on both sides applying little ghee.
Step 8
Sweet and crispy rotis with chickpea, an evening time snack recipe for kids as well as elders, is ready.
Tip
Brush with butter or ghee immediately after taking it off the griddle — the hot surface absorbs it instantly.
