Strawberry In Custard
A home-style Kerala dish made with care and the kind of spice knowledge that comes from watching someone else cook it a hundred times. Each step matters, and the result is worth the effort.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- Strawberry : 50 gm
- Custard powder : 2 tbsp
- Milk : 1 cup
- Water : 1 cup
- Gelatine : 2 tsp
- Honey : ½ cup
- Sugar, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
First chop the strawberries and set aside.
Step 2
In a frying pan, add honey and strawberry. Allow it to let it bubble for 4 minutes, remove from fire.
Step 3
Keep this refrigerated.4) Mix gelatin in water. Double boil it.5) In another vessel, add the custard powder and water. Mix without lumbs.6) Add milk, sugar and mix again. Bring to a gentle boil.
Step 4
Add the gelatin mix and boil.8) Set this in refrigerator.9) When done, in a serving bowl, first add strawberry mixture, on top with custard.10) Can add whipping cream on top also for better taste.
Step 5
Serve this chilled.
Tip
Do not rush the onion and shallot frying. The difference between pale onions and properly browned onions is the difference between a flat dish and a flavourful one.
