Steamed Egg Ada
Sweet, rich, and deeply satisfying — this is the snack that shows up at every Kerala celebration, temple festival, and Onam Sadya. Made with jaggery, coconut, and patience.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 3 nos Eggs Boiled
- 2 nos Onions(large
- 3 nos Green chilly
- Curry leaves, a few
- 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- 1/4 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- Salt, as needed
- 2 cup Rice flour
- Water, as needed
Preparation
Step 1
Warm the oil in a pan and add onion, ginger garlic paste, green chilly. cook well till lightly browned.
Step 2
Next, add all powders and cook until raw smell disappears. Then add boiled eggs and Fold everything together gently. Off the flame and set aside. The filling is ready.
Step 3
For the dough, mix rice flour with enough water and salt to taste. Knead well.Take a vazhayila and spread a small portion and spread nicely. In the center spread filling, Close well and make rest of the adas.
Step 4
Steam let it go for 20-25 minutes.
Step 5
So healthy Egg ada.
Tip
The binding point is everything — cook the mixture just until it holds shape when pressed. Overcooked, it turns hard; undercooked, it crumbles.
