Squid Masala - Spicy
A traditional preparation from Kerala that balances flavour, texture, and aroma in the way that only home cooking can. No two households make it exactly the same, and that is the point.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1 kg Squid — cut into rings
- 2 nos Onion sliced, big size
- 1 nos Tomato — diced
- 6 Pods Garlic
- 1 inch Ginger
- 3/4 tbsp Kashmiri chilli powder
- 1 tsp Pepper — crushed
- 1 tsp Cumin
- Cinnamon i inch piece
- Salt, to taste
- Cilantro — for garnishing
Preparation
Step 1
Heat up 2 tbsp of Oil in a pan.
Step 2
Add the Onions and cook well till get brown colour.
Step 3
Next, add the tomatoes, ginger garlic paste and cook again until all the ingredients are fairly mixed.
Step 4
Throw in the Cinnamon and cumin and cook again until all the ingredients are fairly mixed and the tomato tender.
Step 5
Add the chilli powder and pepper and a cup of water and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 6
Add the squid rings, mix again, Put the lid on and cook on medium heat. :- Let it simmer down to a thick gravy.
Step 7
Spicy squid Masala is ready! :- Garnish the Spicy squid Masala with cilantro! :- Serve the Spicy squid Masala hot! :- eating Spicy squid Masala!
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
