Green Peas Egg Masala Thattukada Style | Bachelor Favorite
A quintessential street food favorite in Kerala known for its bold flavors and rich masala.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 5 tbsp Cooked green peas
- 2 nos Eggs
- 1 nos Onion — chopped
- 1 tsp Ginger — chopped
- 4 nos Green chilly
- 2+2 pinch Pepper powder
- Salt, to taste
- Curry leaves, a few
- 2 tbsp Coconut oil
Preparation
Step 1
Gather and prep all your ingredients before you begin.
Step 2
Pour oil into a kadai and heat it and add chopped ginger. cook for 5 seconds.
Step 3
Add onion and cook in medium flame for 4-5 minutes.
Step 4
Stir in green peas (here I used frozen cooked green peas). You can also soak the normal green peas overnight and cook it by adding little salt and cook for 3-4 whistles.
Step 5
Mix it well.
Step 6
Add salt, turmeric powder and pepper powder. cook, stirring often, for a few minutes until the rawness cooks out.
Step 7
Reduce the flame to low and cover and Let it cook for 5 minutes.
Step 8
Now open followed by a few curry leaves.
Step 9
Break 2 eggs and add it.
Step 10
Scramble it in medium flame.
Step 11
Add chopped coriander leaves and little more pepper powder.
Step 12
Serve while still hot.
Tip
Frying the boiled eggs briefly before adding to the curry gives them a golden skin that holds up better in the gravy.
