Sprouted Green Gram Salad
A fresh, crunchy side that adds a cool contrast to the spiced dishes on a Kerala meal plate. Light seasoning, fresh ingredients, and a simplicity that lets each component speak for itself.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1/4 cup Sprouted green gram Cherupayar
- 1/4 cup Carrot finely — grated
- 1/4 cup Cucumber grated, Vellarikka
- 1/4 cup Tomatoes — finely chopped
- 1/4 cup Coconut — grated
- 1/4 cup Cabbage — finely sliced
- 1 tsp Coriander leaves — chopped
- 1/2 tsp Ginger — finely chopped
- 1 cup Curd fresh, avoid sour curd
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Place the sprouted green gram in a vessel.
Step 2
Add carrot, cucumber, tomatoes, grated coconut, cabbage, coriander leaves, ginger, curd and required salt.
Step 3
Mix all the ingredients together and set aside for 5 minutes.
Step 4
Sprouted green gram salad is ready and serve.
Tip
When the recipe says "medium heat," it means medium. Kerala cooking is not about high-flame drama — most of the work happens at a patient, steady temperature.
