Spicy Dosa
basically styled dosa prepared with some variations. The uniqueness is that unlike other dosas, Spicy Dosa doesn’t require fermentation. Relish Spicy Dosa for breakfast with sambar and chutney. Spicy Dosa can be served plain even without accompaniment.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1/2 cup Red gram (Thuvaraparippu)
- 1/2 cup Par boiled rice
- 1/2 cup Raw rice Pachhari
- Tamarind A small ball (Puli)
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)
- 1/4 tsp Pepper
- Coconut, to taste — grated
- 1 tsp Coriander seeds
- 10 nos Red chillies (Kollamulaku)
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Spicy Dosa, first soak dal and rice together in water for an hour.
Step 2
Grind together dal, rice with the rest of the ingredients.
Step 3
Heat the oil in a dosa tawa.
Step 4
Spread a ladle full of dosa batter onto the dosa tawa.
Step 5
Cook till it goes golden brown.
Step 6
Flip the other side and cook it too.
Step 7
Serve Spicy Dosa hot with mint or onion chutney.
Tip
Spread the batter in a quick circular motion from the centre outward. Do not go back over areas you have already spread.
