Spicy Bread Snack

Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 4 nos Bread Slices
- 1 nos Egg
- 1 nos Onion large
- 1 nos Tomato
- ½ tsp Chilli powder
- ½ tsp Pepper powder
- 1 tsp Sugar
- Turmeric powder
- Milk — optional
- Coriander Leaves
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Beat egg with a pinch of salt, pepper powder and salt.
Step 2
Dip the bread in it and fry it on a tava.
Step 3
When the bread turns brown in colour, remove it from fire and then cut it into small pieces.
Step 4
Heat the oil in a tava and fry finely chopped onions.
Step 5
When it turns brown in colour, add tomato.
Step 6
Fry well and when the tomato has softened, add chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, sugar and salt.
Step 7
Give it a good stir and add the bread pieces.
Step 8
Stir everything together thoroughly and add finely chopped coriander leaves.
Step 9
Transfer the contents to a serving dish.
Step 10
Serve while still hot with tea.
Tip
When the recipe says "medium heat," it means medium. Kerala cooking is not about high-flame drama — most of the work happens at a patient, steady temperature.
