Spicy Beef Fry
Slow-roasted in coconut oil with a generous hand of spices, this beef fry develops layers of flavour as it dries out on the pan. The patience pays off — every piece is coated and concentrated.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 500 g Beef
- 3 nos Onion
- 4 nos Tomato
- Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp
- 2 tsp Green chilly paste
- 2 tsp Red chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Garam masala A pinch
- Coriander leaves, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Cook the beef with 1 tsp beef masala, salt, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp red chilly powder and water as needed.
Step 2
Heat the oil in a vessel and cook onion and tomato for 10 - 15 minutes.
Step 3
Add masalas, coriander leaves, pepper powder and cooked beef and cook again for 10 minutes.
Step 4
Goes well with ghee rice.
Tip
Pressure cooking first saves time, but do not skip the dry-roasting step after — that is where the Kerala beef fry gets its signature dark, caramelised crust.
