Soaked Rice Flakes (Avil Nanachathu)
Soaked Rice flakes (Avil Nanachathu) is a Kerala snack item made with beaten rice flakes (aval) coconut and jaggery. This is the best evening time for kids and adults. It is healthy too.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 3 cup Rice Flakes Avil
- ½ cup Coconut — grated
- ¼ cup Sugar in place of Sugar, grated Jaggery — also can be used
Preparation
Step 1
Get the Rice flakes and grated Coconut in a bowl/vessel.
Step 2
Add Sugar.
Step 3
Sprinkle little water also and mix the ingredients well with hand and set aside for about 5 minutes.
Step 4
Soaked Rice flakes (Avil Nanachathu) is ready. This Soaked Rice flakes can be served along with evening tea/coffee. If necessary, for getting good taste, a pinch of Cardamom powder also can mix with this Soaked Rice flakes.
Tip
For each cup of rice, use slightly less water than usual when adding other liquid ingredients like coconut milk or stock.
