Simple Nei Choru Traditional Malabar Style
Kerala Style or Malabar Style Nei Choru is an aromatic savory rice dish made with rice, ghee and spices. This recipe is a Malabar special and from the Kerala cuisine. This is a very simple recipe and takes your simple meal to a different level.
Ingredientsfor 1 servings
- 1 cup Cooked Rice
- 1 Cinnamon
- 4 Cloves
- 4 Cardamom
- 4 Pepper corn
- 8 Cashew nuts
- 8 Raisins
- 2 tsp Ghee
- 2 tsp Salt
- 2 Onion
Preparation
Step 1
First put 2 spoons ghee and fry onions till it becomes brown colour.
Step 2
Stir in onions stir for 2 minutes until it becomes brown colour.
Step 3
Add cashews to this and stir.
Step 4
Stir for 2 minutes.
Step 5
Add little chopped onions, cinnamon, pepper, cloves,pepper, corn, cardamom, raisins and curry leaves.Stir for 2 more minutes.
Step 6
Add cooked rice to this, add salt and give it a good stir, let it bubble for 2 minutes.
Step 7
Now ghee rice is ready to serve.
Tip
For each cup of rice, use slightly less water than usual when adding other liquid ingredients like coconut milk or stock.
