Simple Drumstick With Dal Curry
A deeply satisfying simple drumstick with dal curry simmered slowly with freshly ground spices and coconut. The kind of gravy that thickens as it rests and rewards patience with layered, rounded flavour.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- Drumstick : 2 nos
- Onion : ½ no
- Mustard : 2 tsp
- Dal : ½ cup
- Turmeric powder : ½ tsp
- Green chilly : 3 nos
- Coconut powder : 1 tsp
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, to taste
- Water : 1 cup or more, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Soak dal for 4 to 5 hours.

Cook dal and drumstick with water using green chilly, turmeric powder and salt.

When it gets cooked.

Heat another pan add oil in it and then add mustard.
Step 6
When it allow to crackles add onion and curry leaves to it.
Step 7
Next, add the onion to the cooked dal and drumstick.
Step 8
Next, add the coconut powder and give it a good stir.
Step 9
Off the flame after 5 minutes.
Step 10
Transfer to the serving dish.
Tip
Let the curry rest for at least 15 minutes after cooking — the flavours deepen as it sits. Reheated curry almost always tastes better than fresh.
