Sardine Fry (Mathi Fry )
This is a typical Kerala recipe which you can normally find in almost all Kerala restaurants and homes. This recipe can be considered as a side dish for lunch. Very less ingredients have been used to make this recipe.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 5 nos Sardines Mathi
- Coconut oil, to taste
- 1 To Red chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Clean the sardines and make deep gashes on both sides.
Step 2
Mix all the ingredients for the marinate.
Step 3
Coat the fish with the marinade and keep for 15 minutes.
Step 4
Set a pan over medium heat and pour in the oil and fry the fishes.turning it once after one side is fried well.
Step 5
Serve as accompaniment with boiled rice or as it is.
Tip
A heavy-bottomed pan or cast iron skillet gives you the best results for a proper Kerala fry. Thin pans burn the spices before the meat dries.
