Sambar In 20 Minutes
Easy to prepare and tasty. Suitable for bachelors and working females.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 1/2 cup Split Gram Tuvara parippu
- 2 nos Onion — cut into big pieces, medium
- 1 nos Carrot
- 1 nos Banana Ethakkaya
- 2 nos Potato medium
- 6 nos Beans
- 1 nos Brinjal Vazhuthana
- 5 nos Lady's finger Vendakka
- 2 nos Drumstick Muringakka
- 2 nos Tomato
- 6 Cloves Garlic Vellulli
- 3 nos Green chillies
- Curry leaves, a few
- 1/2 tbsp Turmeric powder
- 3 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1 tbsp Chilly powder
- 2 pinch Asafoetida powder (Kayam)
- Common salt, to taste
- Tamarind A small ball (puli)
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Cut and size the vegetables to the required size.
Step 2
Wash Dal and put in the cooker along with potato, carrot, beans, onion, garlic pods, banana,brinjal & green chillies.
Step 3
Add chilly powder,turmeric, coriander powder and common salt and give it a good stir.(If necessary u can add 1-2 teaspoon sambar powder).
Step 4
Now close the pressure cooker and keep it on flame.
Step 5
After getting one whistle, stop the flame and open the cooker.(You can release the pressure and open).
Step 6
Next, add the remaining vegetables:- muringakka, vendakka, tomato, kayam and tamarind juice.
Step 7
Again keep it on flame and cook to one more whistle.
Step 8
After that season it with asafoetida powder, mustard seeds and curry leaves in 2 tsp coconut oil.
Step 9
Now you can serve the hot dish.
Tip
Toast the cumin seeds lightly before grinding for a deeper, nuttier flavour in the paste.
