Sadya Special Easy Cabbage Thoran
A beloved dish in Kerala, especially during the festive feast.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 200 g Cabbage — chopped
- 5 nos Shallots — chopped
- 6 nos Green chillies — chopped
- ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
- ½ Of one Coconut — grated
- Salt, to taste
- 3 tsp Coconut oil
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 2 nos Dry red chillies (Kollamulaku)
Preparation
Step 1
Chop finely the cabbage, green chillies and shallots. Take the ingredients: cabbage, green chillies, shallots and few curry leaves in a plate. Add required salt.
Step 2
Add turmeric powder and grated coconut.
Step 3
Stir everything together thoroughly the above chopped items. Mix using your hands for best results.
Step 4
Heat 3 tsp coconut oil in a pan or a kadai for seasoning. let the mustard seeds crackle and cook dry red chillies.
Step 5
Add the cabbage-coconut mixture and Stir everything together thoroughly. Put the lid on and cook for about 3 minutes.
Step 6
Remove the lid and keep it on flame, till Sadya Special Easy Cabbage Thoran is done.with rice or chapathi.
Tip
Grated coconut goes in last and cooks just long enough to warm through. Overcooking makes it chewy instead of soft.
