Rava Paruthi Appam
Lacy edges, spongy centre — appam is fermented rice batter swirled in a curved pan until it forms a bowl-shaped pancake. The slight tang from fermentation pairs perfectly with a coconut stew or egg curry.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 11/2 cup Fried rava
- 1 cup Grinded coconut
- 1 nos Onion Chopped, big
- 1 tsp Ginger — chopped
- 2 nos Green chillie — chopped
- 1 Stem Curry leaf — chopped
- 1 cup Water
- 11/2 tbsp Coconut oil
Preparation
Step 1
Gather all items except coconut oil and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 2
Heat a flat type frying pan in a low flame.
Step 3
Pour the 3/4 tb spoon coconut oil and spread it well.
Step 4
Get 1/2 part of the mix and spread it well in the pan as thin layer.
Step 5
Fry it for 5 minuts and turn it over for another 4 minuts.
Step 6
Repeat the same with the balance mix as well.
Step 7
Serve it hot with tea or cofee.
Tip
The swirling motion takes practice. Your first two appams will likely be imperfect — consider them warm-up rounds.
