Quick Green Peas Vada
Sweet, rich, and deeply satisfying — this is the snack that shows up at every Kerala celebration, temple festival, and Onam Sadya. Made with jaggery, coconut, and patience.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- Green Peas : 1 cup
- Onion : 1 (chopped into small pieces
- Ginger : 1 Large
- Green Chilly: 3 or 4 nos
- Coriander leaves : a hand full
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Soak the green peas in water for 4 hours.
Step 2
Add 2 Green Chilies and Ginger with Soaked green Peas and grind well.
Step 3
Chop the remaining 2 green chilies, coriander leaves and onion.
Step 4
Mix the grinded green Peas to this.
Step 5
Make small Vada shapes and fry in hot oil.
Step 6
Enter Step.
Tip
The binding point is everything — cook the mixture just until it holds shape when pressed. Overcooked, it turns hard; undercooked, it crumbles.
