Puttu With Leftover Cooked Rice
Here I'm going to prepare the keralas favourite breakfast recipe "Puttu" with leftover cooked rice.Here I use normal rice flour along with cooked rice to make it, the main intention of this post was to show how soft the puttu becomes this way as well.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 cup Rice flour
- 1 cup Cooked rice
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Get a blender and add cooked rice,rice flour and salt to taste.g rind it to a smooth powdered form.
Step 2
Convert that in to a bowl and Stir everything together thoroughly with hand without any lumps.The mixture will look like rice flour.No need to add extra water.
Step 3
Get a puttu maker and layer it with grated coconut first,.
Step 4
Then the rice flour and then a layer of grated coconut. Fill pressure cooker/ puttu kudam with 3-4 cups of water and bring to a boil. 6. Place the puttu maker on top of it and steam Continue cooking for 5 to 7 minutes or until the steam starts coming out from the top of puttu maker.
Step 5
Remove it to a plate and serve this hot soft puttu with banana or any spicy curry of your choice.
Tip
For each cup of rice, use slightly less water than usual when adding other liquid ingredients like coconut milk or stock.
