Ponnanganni Cheera Thoran | Dwarf Copperleaf Spinach Stir Fry
Nutritious Ponnanganni Cheera Thoran is a Kerala-style stir fry with dwarf copperleaf spinach, perfect for healthy, meals.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 250 g Poonanganni (Cheera)
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- 1/4 cup Onion — chopped
- 2 tsp Green Chilli pieces — chopped
- 3 tsp Coconut/Refined Oil
- Salt, as needed
Preparation
Step 1
Clean Ponnanganni Cheera, and put them in a plate/bowl. Add some normal water and keep it in water for about 15 – 20 minutes.
Step 2
After about 15 – 20 minutes, take them out from the water and chop into small pieces.
Step 3
Heat the oil in a cheenachatti/frying pan and add chopped onion/shallot pieces. Stir it well. When colour of the onion pieces turns golden, add chopped green chilli pieces. give it a good stir. After 2 – 3 minutes, add the Ponnanganni Cheera pieces along with required quantity of salt. Stir it further (no water should be added). Cover the pan with a lid and cook in medium flame.
Step 4
When the cheera is cooked well, turn off the heat and add grated coconut into it. Stir it well,.
Step 5
Ponnanganni Cheera Thoran is ready. Serve the And healthy side dish with cooked rice.
Tip
Shred the vegetable as fine as you can — the thinner the cuts, the better the thoran. A sharp knife makes all the difference.
